Örebro University – eDemocracy/eParticipation activities9. June 2008 – 16:11 by Orebro University |
It is my pleasure to introduce Örebro University (Sweden) to PEP-net. I would like to use our first blog post to briefly introduce you to some of eParticipation researchers and activities at our school.
Our young Örebro University has a broad spectrum of research in democracy—our slogan is “the democratic university.” When it comes to eDemocracy and the related fields of eGovernment and ICT4D (ICT for development), the Department of Informatics in the Swedish Business School plays a leading role in global networks. We work together with other disciplines such as political science, media and communication and public administration and have been involved in numerous related EU, national, local and business projects.
Some of our interesting activities include (sorry if I miss some):
DEMO-net
International Master of Electronic Government
DemocrIT research group
Centre for Urban and Regional Studies
Joint venture research school between Örebro University and Örebro City on electronic government
The conditions for democracy research school
FORMAS democratic decision processes research
eGov SIG (Special Interest Group)
the annual Scandinavian Workshop on E-Government
European PhD school on eGovernment
and now of course PEP-net!
Here are just a few of the researchers working in the related DEMO-net network:
Åke Grönlund
Anders Avdic
Karin Hedström
Mikael Granberg
Joachim Åström
Jan Ingvar Olsson
And DEMO-net PhD students:
Mathias Hatakka

Beyond DEMO-net members, we have others doing eParticipation related research as well. Even some of our eGovernment master students have done related research including:
Wang Zhe
Ovid Boyd (me)
Hannu Larsson
Vasilena Neykova
Wang Ruili
Morfaw Damian Zigo
In future blog posts, we will keep you updated on some of the interesting research happening here and projects we are working on.
Looking forward to PEP-net,
