1) Dive under your table (this will already protect you from direct exposure of news, email and e-petitions).
2) Look at the back of your Computer. You will find a small grey cable called “LAN”.
3) Just unplug it (or cut it with scissors, to make sure).
4) Now you can safely lean back in your chair again.
Note: This procedure has been applied by a number of your (international) colleagues already. However, experience shows that there is a certain risk of voter-frustration. People may vote next time for someone who actually left the “internet-thing” plugged-in.
Some guys in the business of “representative democracy” even had the fancy idea, that the internet could help them to represent the people more directly and more efficently.

Ah, I see what you mean. This is how it works:
